    Hi All,
Found this little piece, 5 1/2"H, the plaque reads 'Colonel W J Crocker Assistant Commandant Staff College Quetta 1 Dec 42 to'
I can find bits of information on who I think is the same person, he was promoted to Major 30th Aug 1933, June 6 1940 he was granted the temporary rank of Brigadier (he was a Lt-Col at that time) and was commander of the 98th Indian Infantry Brigade. His military number was #146911.
I'm trying to figure out the significance of the owl, if there is one. I took the owl off the base, no marks on it
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

The owl is associated with Quetta. From wikipedia.org:

"Prior to this, articles of such nature were published (regularly since 1947) in the College year-book, known at various times as Owl Pie (1921), The Owl (1922–78) and The Review (1979–83)."

    I wouldn't be suprised

Being an owl would make it appeal to a larger audience for sure

    Great find :)

Any officer who was appointed as an Instructor at the Quetta Staff College was given a “Wise Owl” statuette when he had completed his tenure. My father Colonel H.R.C.Pettigrew was an instructor in 1943/44 and I have his “Wise Owl” Unfortunately it is missing its base but is made from Indian Silver
