    Crazy, but I love it!
Please tell me what it is :D

My first thought is it contained a liqueur of wine of some type but the spout direction is confusing and I honestly have no idea! You are right, very weird!!!

I think you might be onto something... maybe it's just a clever way of hiding a liquor bottle. Does the bottle turn freely inside the pot... if it does then that would take care of the spout facing the wrong way.

It moves just a tad, not freely.

It was made to go that way. Look at how they cut the top for the lip to go up from the bottom

I'm assuming the bottom is sealed copper?

You mean, it was made from the bottom up? The bottle sat on the base, that was covered by the teapot, and then the cap piece was cut to fit over the mouth of the bottle! By jove I think you've got it!
But wait. Why?? Was Komokwa right? Is this a Booze hider? hahaha :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
    just made my day

How much volume of liquid do you estimate it to hold?

My guess is a pint. The size of the body of the teapot is 5" x 5". Bottle unknown

I do think perhaps prohibition and quite perfect. If someone wanted to inspect it you could pour tea just as any teapot would and the booze would not spill. When you want the good stuff just tilt it back and it pours from the glass but the tea does not spill. Just a thought but I think it is quite brilliant

I keep coming back to this post because I think that little pot (kettle?) is so cool!

Prohibition sounds as likely as anything. Apparently, there were many ingenious ways to hide your liquor supply!

I found 2 more. Of these two, I think the "log" one takes the prize - tho it's still not as clever as the tea kettle:

Great pics SBSVC! I am convinced also it is a prohibition piece. Probably a bit of humor in using the copper like the stills were made of to top it off. The old bottle lover in me would like to get a look at the whole bottle. As bobsyouruncle pointed out it is ingenious. You could have it sitting on a cold burner with a bit of water in the chamber surrounding the bottle and a curious person could see that indeed it was just a cold kettle of water if they tipped and poured it...
