Yup, glass stones. It does actually fit me, sorry charlie. ;) I'll keep an eye open for you!

I still have some NA style stuff from the 80s, even the yee haa boots. I also have a solid silver signed proper concha belt, no leather, bought near Tucson back in, oh, the late 80s. Bit of a treasure, that.

I cheated with black leather trousers. I've excellent fakes, which go in the washing machine.

No worries obb, at least I know what they are called now

Even if this one's not authentic, it's still a 'belter':)

Sorry that I can’t help. I see them all the time but shipping would not be worth it from the US.

I agree and if Charlie wanted a genuine one the shipping would be worth the cost but IMO it isn’t on a costume piece. I never buy them myself but if a costume one was desired, international shipping would definitely up the price.

You can buy one of any size and just have the conchas put on a longer strap. The small ones can be made far less “girly” by mounting on a wider strap. One of mine is too narrow for me but it’s a really good one so I had a wider strap made that the narrow strap of the belt weaves through so it becomes a lot more substantial. I’ll post a picture of what you can do with a narrow one but IMO you’ll have to put too much into it to justify doing it on a costume piece.

I've hidden the silver one somewhere, if I can fish it out, there will indeed be photos. I know where the receipt is.....

I’m definitely a “no polish” on NA jewelry (unless modernist) although I do wipe mine down to remove any serious blackening. I want my NA silver to show it’s age (but never pit) but that’s just me and I agree that to polish or not is personal preference.

They started life shiny & gleaming.........for the most part....
    but ya...it's a choice....
depends to me...on the item itself !

Respectfully, I know no one ( not a single person) who would shine a classic vintage concha and I see literally thousands of them every year as I go to the vintage NA shows, dealers and trading posts but yes, it’s a choice.

I strongly advise anyone who owns one to never polish it unless they’re committed to the piece for themself. Again, I do believe in gently wiping off serious tarnish with a light hand. The one I pictured is mid century and I inherited it in the early 80s. It has never been polished but it is wiped when needed.

I believe that all silver should be protected from blackening and pitting but I don’t believe that all silver should be kept shined. It depends on the piece and I definitely don’t believe in shine on vintage NA classic pieces.

On the other hand, I keep all my Peretti highly shined as well as some of my mid century Mexico. I definitely polish all my modernist pieces but I don’t polish the ones that reference MesoAmerica. So yes on my Pineda and no on my Spratling although again, I do wipe down pieces that I don’t polish.

I hate shiny silver. I only use Sunshine Cloths, very gently, or sometime a gentle ultrasound bath to get the gunk off. The concha belt is living in a cloth bag which stops it getting blackened. (Still can't find it. Safe place. Arg.)
