Your opinion about this satsuma pottery? The seller says that it is dated at the early of 1900s (from the sign). Is it true? Does it have any worth?

    thank you

This is not a high quality piece of Japanese Satsuma. It probably dates to the mid 20th century or even more recent. The mark is a mystery as the bottom character is Zan (but upside down) and the top if supposed to be the Satsuma crest should be a circle with a cross in it. I would steer clear unless just a few pounds for decorative value.

    Hi,
I agree, when I see a darkened bottom I back away. I have a few 200 year old pieces and the bottoms are worn but still white.
