Cigarette case with bells

Found this today had a guess it was a cigarette case found one and only one on google and eBay sold item says it's Russian but was wondering from when and anyone have any idea how it works the key on top wont turn may have to pull apart any thoughts appreciative chris

 

The bird looks Peruvian, that's all I can say.

 

If it is plastic, by all means pull it apart. If it has any decent age to it please do not pull it apart. It would be ruined either way but if it is a modern thing it does not reaslly matter.

THe non turning key simply means it is wound up already, something is stopping the musical movement from working.

 

Everything I have found says it's from 80s and is Russian will have another look see if anything stopping it

 

Try describing it as a cigarette box or dispenser. A cigarette case is a pocket item.

 

I saw something recently similar on American Pickers. I think what I saw was a case where people could buy one cig at a time (depression era) so as not to have to buy a full pack which was costly.
.. just throwing this out there as a maybe???

 

What are the measurements ? I agree newer,especially with the plastic inserts. That being said,it'd make a great dollhouse stove !

 

That was my first thought when I saw it. It reminded me of the doll's stove I had as a little girl. It came with little cubes you could light, something that would not pass EU safety regulations nowadays.

Supposed to have plastic inserts to stop bells will have to pull apart to inspect pretty heavy I would say at least 1.5 kha quite big 230mm x 130mm wide let you know how I go

 

Pulled apart pretty elaborate design. Bit off lubricant and now working a treat.
Wind the top
when you open either door plays a tune and the bells ting (for want of a better word) every 5 seconds
