Antique dishes made in and when ?

    Are they made of plaster? They could be hobbyist work possibly IMHO. In the early 80's I used to go to a shop and buy blank plaster pieces and paint them like ceramics.

    Are there any marks on the back?

    Think there plaster but by the looks off the paint older them 1900 kind off age . Do know that Germans and Austrians like to make things off plaster

    I am wondering if "charger" might be a correct term for such a large plate like item?

    I'd say it is a plaque versus a dish. Looks like plaster, made to be decorative, possibly had a wood frame that held the hook. IMHO, it is unlikely you will be able to nail down any solid information on them, though I have been known to be wrong (just don't tell my husband I admitted to that though LOL)
