Hi! I'm brand new (to the forum and to antique collecting) and am hoping this isn't too clueless of a question, but here goes:
I have an Ironstone pitcher and I'm wondering about the signature on the floral decoration on the front. Basically, I've been googling around trying to find out about the decorator's signature and nothing's come up/I'm not seeing signatures on other similar pieces and wondering if anyone can give me some info/context? Pics attached - the little orange signature below the flowers - "e. v something?"

    Thank you!

It would have been the work of a hobbyist painter. Likely a woman of leisure who had no other outlet for her artistic talent.

Yours would be called an ewer and it would have had a matching bowl. For toilette purposes (before running water) rather than table use.

I'm not convinced that's hand painted.

You know... I wondered if that wasn't a decal but... my eyes aren't good enough. Glad to have your opinion.

Please show the bottom, just to make sure it isn't from a hobby mold.

It looks typical to me of a 20s ish airbrushed jug, with what I suspect is printed transfer flowers - see how it's rubbed?

Oh, wow, there are about a bazillion of those on the worthpoint site, with no ID I can see. The 1890 can't be the date of manufacture.

Revised opinion on my part. A much later repro.
