    Hello

I have this necklace and I cant nail down a country of origin. Metal appears to be low grade silver but I haven't tested it, green stones are glass.

    Thanks for looking

Those cabs look like chrysoprase. The style could easily be a 1930s festoon. The length of the chain, i.e. the part that goes around your neck, is a giveaway. The shorter it is, the older it's likely to be. If it were mine I'd be guessing Portugal or Italy, but those soldered on jump rings on the back might give someone else a clue.

I imagine it looks lovely on as it looks like it would hang nicely.

Have you tested the stones? Did they test as glass?

I agree with Ratsy, it is most likely Middle Eastern. I should know those lovely links, but my mind is totally blank.
Not Austro Hungarian Historic Revival, the back is much too plain, with a very basic attachment of the rings that support the filigree.

For AH you need backs like these, which is where the Bohemian Gürtler got it from:

Wild guess - Turkey? Those wirework flower-thingies show up on Israeli jewelry from about 60 years ago, and those folks were often (forced) exports from all over. The back's all wrong for Israeli, but a Turkish smith might have seen the design and thought "I could do that", and come up with the rings on the back as a way to hook in all the chain.

I keep thinking the chains could be Kurdish, but I can't find anything.
Kurdish jewellery is a mix of their own beautiful and often delicately elegant jewellery with several styles from neighbouring regions.

I also thought I might have a Tunisian necklace with those links, but unearthing the North African box is a bit too much for me now. If I find the energy to do some serious excavating, I'll take a look.;)

I haven't tested them, but they are warm to the touch and look like glass. I will use my gem tester on them and see if I get a result
