Inherited Fine China made in Poland Favolina or Jarolina... please help?

Hi everybody, I just found this site! I'm from Quebec, Canada.
I love antiques, and I now have a lot to try to discover about what come to me from my family.

I recently inherited fine china, and sadly the people who could have known when in came into the family passed away long ago :/

I know it was my great-aunt that bought it or received it as a gift, but I was still a child when she died and she had dementia for a long while before that. So even my grand mother didn't know where she acquired it.

I would really love to know around what time it could have been made.

Here is a picture of the set.
Apart from the sentimental value, I do not know what it could be worth...?

2. In order to figure out age/origin/etc we'll need a good clear shot of the marks on the dishes. The boardies prefer images to be posted full size, but at least you figured out how to shrink them small enough that they'll upload! That said, porcelain dinner sets don't sell for an awful lot.

I am thinking about keeping it since it's been in the family for many decades I think.
I am not big on floral stuff, but it's a bit sentimental for me I'll admit.

There the crown, then ''Javolina'' I think, then 'made in Poland', then a number usually for 1 to 3; there is the number 83 that seemed to be hand written on some of them, or 96.

 

I believe it's JAROLINA. I'll see if I can find a pattern name.


Edited to say: nope, FAVOLINA... Getting closer!

Well, Alex, I have struck out in all the "usual" places. I can't even seem to find any information on the history of the company! (How bizarre!)

Oddly enough, the site "Ask Our Man in Warsaw" had this reply to a query about the company:

The Favolina company is definitely Polish but it is so well-hidden that it is impossible to find out anything about its location, ownership, history or whatever. There are e-auction and other websites selling Favolina dinnerware sets as well as individual replacements but there is nothing about the company itself.

... Nobody I have consulted in Warsaw seems to have heard of it and I have contacted antique shops, auction houses and even the National Museum.

Okay, just found this:

It actually reads KAROLINA. Trademark of the former Porzellanfabrik Königszelt AG from the town of Königszelt (Jaworzyna Śląska) in Silesia.

Shown mark was used during their period as Zakłady Porcelany Stołowej Jaworzyna Śląska(1951 until 1957) and Zakłady Porcelany Stołowej 'Karolina' Spółka z o.o. (from 1957 onwards).

No, it doesn't match my pattern. I've search through ''replacements.com'' and some looked a little bit alike, but never the same. The china I have is 'blank' in the middle, no pattern inside/in the middle, only around for the dishes, and nothing inside for tea cups etc.

Edit: I'll take pictures tomorrow to show what I am trying to say!

It very well could be the 1954-1999 mark shown in their chart - it sure looks like it!

According to the site below:
After the World War II factory was taken over by Polish government and in 1954 renamed to Karolina
That would mean your set couldn't be any older than 1954.

Ok, can't really see your pattern well.
When you post pictures, there is a button for full image. It may still be available if you go back and click it the picture will show in your post.

If you are looking for values, that pattern is close enough that I would think value would probably be in the same ball park.

Well, Alex, we never did find the pattern name, but in a round-about way, I guess you could say we made some progress! (That was fun!)

Hello, I have a footed creamer/sugar set that looks like the Karolina mark above. The pattern is white with gold trim. It looks almost exactly like the Southington Versailles coffee pot I have. I purchased the three pieces at an antique store but didn't realize until later that they were not from the same company and not a true set. All three are marked Made in Poland.

 

Hi All. I came across a large set with similar marks. Ill admit it looks like Farolina
But it has a 3 them 9026 in gold and 48 in blue off to the side.
Is it after the 1954 dates your finding?
The flowers are similar but the also have a yellow swirl/basket the flowers sit in.

 

Have some dinnerware by this company with an additional Embassy China Royal Imports mark. Glad I read this post as I thought the first letter was an F and not a K on Kavolina. Wonder how many others make this mistake.
