Very good furniture maker. Flame mahogany. Probably 19th century but wait for the furniture people to look in.

    OH!

What a very nice find. That stamp lifts it into good and collectable with real value. That stamp was used from the late 18th C up to the mid 19th. Looks as though someone has put a later lock on it perhaps. I'd think it's early 19th ish, but I'd like to see more of it. Flame mahogany.

    More photos, please?

What would something like this be valued at?

Potentially, four figures with that stamp. it's been got at slightly, as I say, the lock looks much newer and the leather's been damaged or replaced. Mind you, looks like the original lock loose in that drawer.

Are you in the UK? If you're selling, you need a decent auction house.

Dotnt plan on selling I was just wondering if its worth putting on the insurance plan incase something happens. Would it be worth getting it fixed up?

If you'd want to replace it, then yes, insure.

What do you think needs doing? Other than the lock and leather, it looks fine, I'd probably leave it alone. And do NOT use any nasty polishes on it, just a soft old cloth - then an old silk scarf if you have one. Keep it out of direct sun and way from radiators. I'd probably take that glass off the top, too.

And the rest. It's at least a couple of thou here. I suspect a fair chunk more than that.

I can't find an exact match, and this one has no sale price, which is annoying.

Not the same and only attributed, rather than signed: this went for £15K.

Found some more information where it came from. Apparently my great grandfather was a church elder and was friendly with a lady who lived on the Malone road in Belfast. She was something to do with the linen trade in Belfast at the time. When she passed away he was told he could have it from her house.
