I'm on a roll today... my second post!

I purchased this recently, it has no manufacturer marks although it does have numbers on the bottom and an 'A'. It measures approx 11 inches across. Can anyone shed any light on its age/make or if it's junk?

I'm no expert but thought it might be a jardiniere (after looking on the internet!) however, I could be totally wrong!

    Thank you and appreciated :)

Looks like a planter to me. My mother had a fondness for this kind of thing, she would plant 3 or so small house plants in it and I always remember one that was in the kitchen when I was growing up. The plants never seemed to get very big but they were is a small planter :)

I think planters like this were a thing in the 50s-60s. The flowers look like cyclamens to me.

Thanks, I thought cyclamens too... which is one of those plants that die on me as soon as I even look at it!

JMHO, I don't see Art Nouveau, the flowers are more realistic, less stylized.

there are many differences between the normally summarised look upon arts & crafts, art nouveau and Jugendstil. it's not only the different areas and eras, but also differing ideas. arts and crafts are in big parts anti-industry and pro-handiwork in the beginning till some artists and producers went broke :hilarious:; art nouveau was much stronger influenced by Japan on one hand and the old handicraft of local people by using simply what was around (régule really being old unsorted metal that went into the smelter); in Germany it was rather industrialized - some companies even stressed the point of products that are elegant and designed by well-known artists and yet affordable for the growing middle-classes (pewter from Kayserzinn, Orivit etc.).
