Don't know much about this..says 1445 on the side with some felt on the bottom. A chip on the side reveals some kind of white fiber in it probably to keep it together.
Welcome Kacie. With that title I thought your thread would be about a historic event. That is why I looked, I don't know much about pottery. I agree with komo though, looks like there is a mold connection. The number could be the model number, so the maker knew which one to use. But let's wait for those more knowledgeable.
It appears to be modern and in pretty poor condition but it does have a certain look. You don't give a size?
Welcome Kacie - It looks to me more like a composite of some type - almost a plaster. I don't think the lines you are seeing are an added fiber but rather the material itself. It's a bit more fragile than its size would suggest. The finish is chipping off and it was given a brown wash to give it an antique style. I think it is fairly modern and produced solely for decorative effect. Would like nice with artificial flowers or fruit.
I don't think anyone is seeing much to recommend this piece -- but it is striking and if you like it what's not to like? 60s-70s? Some sort of plaster mould (so maybe lots of them)? Painted finish? And probably never an expensive item, in my opinion (which is a humble one).
Thanks everyone. I love learning about the pieces I aquire. Can't wait to post some other things I have that I don't really know about. I love antiques! I love having knowledge on pieces I own or see in thrift shops.
