    Hello Everyone,
I am new to this website and to antiques. I recently moved out to a city town square that has about two antique shops at least per street. I started becoming interested on their pieces and slowly but surly fell down a rabbit hole of further research. I find myself checking sites all day long during breaks and before bed looking to further any knowledge. Just for fun.

I wanted a vanity and fell intrigued with this piece. I didn't realize it was so low until I drove out 3 hours to pick it up, lol. However I still loved it. Now I am just looking for any information as the seller really didn't have any.

Any help is greatly appreciated and will be absorbed =)

    Thank you!!
    ~Zukee

Welcome Zukee! And be forewarned, antiques are addictive! Your dressing table looks to be a 1920s era one, mass produced but still quite cute. Usually theres a low bench that goes with them.

    It is!!!!!! Ugh

I have seen low benches in other sets, however I find it difficult to imagine with how this one is. Thanks for the input though!

Zukee, could you please measure the height of the (middle) front opening from the floor up to the lowest point of the decorative part in the middle of the front? ;)

American circa 1925. Walnut veneer. Looks to have been refinished or at least partially stripped.

Might be missing castor wheels, but that would only raise it another inch or two.

If you have the opportunity to have someone raise it at an angle so you can look at the bottom of a leg. There will be a hole in the center of the leg where the castor went.

Yeah I did notice that there are holes at the bottom of all legs.

Thanks for the help. I think by far the hardest thing for me is determining what type of wood an item is. I've tried reading about veneers vs shellacs and so forth.. I did note that when I tried to simply wipe it with a partially damp kitchen towel, the color seemed to start coming off. =/

Although it may not have been as old as you hoped, I think it is still a great looking piece.

Thanks, I agree! I really like the drawers and overall look. I got it so that I can attempt my first refinish project, so this is perfect! =P
