Inkwell - Right Cap?

I am a sucker for old glass (and new glass). When I saw it, I fell in love with this small (3 inch square by 1 3/4 inch high) inkwell. I can see the dark blue ink floating languidly in its center and my pen's gold nib dipping inside. Poetical thoughts aside, the cap seems to be very loose. It does have an ink stained pad glued inside, so it is an inkwell cap. Do you think it is the original?

 

They're certainly not a design match.

The glass part is very beautiful
The lid, not so much. I doubt this to be the original lid.

Probably. It’s very thin whatever it is.

 

What does the glass rim look like? Does the lid FEEL original to your hand?

Looks like crystal to me! Is it?

 

Inkwells may well have come in standard sizes.
