IMG_6264.JPG IMG_6265.JPG IMG_6266.JPG IMG_6267.JPG This is another I D(on't) K(now) W(hat) I(t) I(s)! It appears to be a hot plate or trivet of some sort--hand-painted porcelain(I think!) with a metal border with 4 legs. The piece is about 13 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches. Bottom has spotty hit and miss glaze. I think there is some significance to the painting on the front, but I do not know what. The piece appears to be very old, but I have certainly been wrong before! Can anyone help me with this one? I would be very grateful.

It's very close to the crest of the House of Bourbon, aka the French royal family and to those of Philippe d'Orleans in particular. It looks like it's supposed to be a piece of Sevres. Beyond that...dunno.

I don't think it was meant to be a hot plate.
    More likely a dresser tray.

Can you post a close-up of the "spotty hit or miss glaze"? I think this may have been attached to something else in it's original life.

It is difficult to tell but I still think this may have been taken out of something.

I wonder if it was part of a piece of furniture decoration — you know, when they put porcelain plaques, etc, on furniture.

Interesting--certainly a viable possibility. Maybe the four "feet" are the attachment points. Thanks!

    That's a distinct possibility--thanks for your insight!
