Vintage Swedish Gnome Christmas Tablecloth- Artist's Name?

I own a Swedish linen tablecloth similar to this re-purposed skirt being sold on Etsy below. (They are asking $55). Mine has a green ground, not blue. The only mark on it is "Handprinted in Sweden". The style is so distinctive, I was hoping someone would recognize the artist. My 6' 3" son wants to use it in his elf costume, so I am trying to decide whether or not it's worth too much to elf out. Thank you!

It all depends how much the cloth means to you.

Swedish tablecloths are easily found........although I haven't bought one in recent years, but they probably cost around $30 or less, for a say 30" square, give or take.

Mine mostly have the different provinces on them but each one is different from the other.

I can't say that I'm familar with the elf design as you describe, so don't know how readily you could replace it if you let your son "elf" the one you have.

Again, it's all in just how much it means to you.................

The "elf" comes in many items, and I'm not so sure there is anyone designer involved. I don't think I've ever been aware of it.

 

BTW....I think the Etsy one at $55 is way out of line. It isn't even skillfully repurposed.........can't imagine who would buy it........

 

Well, yes.. "Asking" and "Getting" are two separate realities, alas. Personally, if I sewed anything, I'd be asking $ 3 Mill. I'd rather be pecked to death by pigeons than sew.

 

I know what you mean.....if I could only be an artist on canvas, I'd ask 3 mil too!

However, I'm petrified of pigeons.................
