Greetings everyone! Today I am out thrifting and I came across a nice looking glass paperweight which I purchased. For anyone with experience, how do you go about valuing a piece like mine? I don’t have any experience experience in paperweight yet and it would be great to learn from you, thank you.

Not seeing anything there that would make me think it's not from China - but I don't have a lot of experience with paperweights. I'm sure people more knowledgeable will chime in.

It's new and Chinese, I agree - the ground base is the clue.

Thank you very much, does anyone have an example of what a good/high quality base would look like?

The glassmessages board paperweight forum might be a good place to start:

I saw a ton of paper weights like those for sale in Venice. They were labeled as Murano there. Would this be Murano style maybe?

I believe I heard somewhere on this board (I think) that retailers in Venice are buying Chinese vases and paperweights and being very crafty on how the labels read. I've taken pictures of one of my own paperweights and shown it below. Note How polished and even the bottom is. Also note the label. It reads Murano Glass Made in Italy. So it is probably Italian but not necessarily made on Murano.
