These are handmade old-style Nyonya kebayas, of the type invented by Dutch colonial ladies, but also worn by ladies of mixed heritage and Peranakan Chinese ladies.
The sheer material is likely to be cotton. I expect the last one to be silk, because it is a dress kebaya, for special occasions.
I have never seen a kebaya made of banana cloth, as far as I know that is a Japanese material.

I don't know. I do know that quite a few Dutch colonial women on Java and Madura had kebaya and even batik workshops where they employed local women.
Since many of the workshops set up by these colonial women served to promote traditional crafts and provide employment, I can imagine they exported to Malaysia as well.
Yogya silver production was also given a boost by a Dutch lady, who even took the silversmiths to archaeological sites to look at the old Hindu-Buddhist designs.

Nice link Phaik, thanks, I bookmarked it.
Voile means veil, yes it can be used for any kind of sheer weave, like chiffon, etc.
It says in the link that the 'baju panjang' (long kebaya) could have originated from a Turkish dress. I always learned that it originated from 16th century Portuguese colonial women's dress, which in turn was inspired by Arab dress. Kebaya is derived from 'kaba', which means clothing in Arabic.
I don't know of any Turkish communities in the region, but Portuguese were everywhere, before the Dutch and British kicked them out.;):( Lace and Richelieu embroidery were also introduced by the Portuguese.
