Featured Vintage doll dress - organdy & maybe rayon? How to clean

I want to sell a vintage doll with the original dress, but it's dirty. Can it be cleaned or should I sell as-is and let the buyer deal with it? The inner dress is probably a rayon material. The outer dress is red organdy or organza with flocked flowers.

 

Disclose condition in description, add close-up photographs of flaws and let the buyer deal with it. A doll collector is likely to have more expertise than the average seller.

Leave the problem for the buyer. The organdy color may run like a second story man!

Sort of looks like something one of the 50s-60s Madame Alexandra dolls might have worn.

I agree .. leave it to the buyer. Many doll collectors like their old dolls to wear the dresses 'as is' .. Joy.

 

I sell lots of doll clothes. I always leave it to the buyer to clean. It's already been said, but collectors know better about cleaning than I will ever know.

 

I thought it might be a Madame Alexander doll, but she's not marked anywhere.

 

Madame Alexander clothes are almost always tagged. There were lots of clones.

 

Is she about 12 inches tall? If so I had that doll. late 1950s.
I've seen her in books, but don't remember who made her. Might have been Madame Alexandria. Not sure the dress is hers. I think mine was in a brides gown.

 

Look at the way the eyebrows and mouth are done.

To me, she looks more like an Ideal Revlon doll (a/k/a Miss Revlon) from the late 1950's. (There were also numerous "clones" made by other companies.)

You might be right.
Both Madame Alexandra and Miss Revlon, look an awful lot alike.
I'm certainly no expert.

 

You can't name specifics on Ebay if you aren't sure so I can't even say Mme. Alexander STYLE. Picky. Worse yet I have those plastic suitcase boxes full of Barbie, Ken et al. I may just sell it as a box lot.
