Hi! It has the Swedish triple crown hallmark within an oval shape and it's marked 18K in a rectangle. There seems to be conflicting information regarding the dates for this 3 crown hallmark on gold. Some folks say 1913 to 1988, others say earlier.
The "diamond" has a six-sided pointed top which I believe is rose cut. There are 3 diamonds almost "buried" on each side of the center diamond: a lot of metal-work around them.
    The back is nicely engraved.
Well, thank you, and here are the pics: IMG_0309.jpg IMG_0309.jpg IMG_0308.jpg

Can you post photos of the diamond and what is on the outside of the ring shank opposite the holes on the inside of the shank?

The central stone is some type of table cut, so not rose cut.

    It is a beauty, Martin.
Is it just the 3 crowns, or is it 3 crowns in a cartouche? If a cartouche, which shape is it? Could you show us?
In 1913 Sweden added the millessimal fineness, not anything marked K. If it is marked 18K it was imported into Sweden.

Hi, There is a 4th photograph showing the triple crown mark within an oval and 18K in a rectangle. You have to enlarge the thumbnail, please.

Hi! But, I thought a table cut diamond was flat at top? Please look closely, the top has six sides that come to slightly elevated point.

I like the looks of this ring but......I wonder? "Any Jewelry" brought up the 18K mark. Also, I would expect the shank to be more worn if it were 18K and old. Is it 2 toned or all white gold? Usually the backs of diamonds are not closed off in order for light to enter from below. It also makes it difficult to clean. I think this ring is a reproduction.

    Hello, Thanks.
It tests 18K and is yellow gold at the shank. The center diamond and the 3 diamonds on either side are set, or rather mounted in silver. This kind of closed off mount was used often in Georgian jewelry because there could be foil behind the diamond.

Trick of the angle/lighting in first photo. Looked flat to me. You're correct, rose cut.

Looks like 18K white gold with yellow gold plating.Large stone single cut rose cut, small stones raw/uncut. Dating,if it is actually white gold probably sometime after 1920.

As for the remark about needing a hole below the diamond, the hole was drilled to enable the pavilion of the stone for cleaning,if a person is wearing the ring no light can enter the bottom of the stone.

    Spotted it, thanks.
The oval mark is the Swedish import mark, introduced in 1912, implemented in 1913. So it was imported into Sweden in or after 1913. My guess is not very long after.
So it wasn't made in Sweden, and with an 18K mark it was most likely made outside Europe.

Unfortunately the marks don't tell us anything about the age, so we will have to go by the other characteristics.:)

I agree with Any Jewelry about 1912-1913 and the Swedish import mark. But, when looking at the rose inside the ring, I get a feeling that the ring can have been imported from Norway as this rose was significant for the town of Trondheim. Many things from that town bears a rose. I think that this ring is much older, maybe early 1900 century. Just a thought.
