    PS
Looks like something was removed from the Past Pres. medal?

I wonder if it could be the "L" that represents the Lions club? also thought it looked a bit funny in the centre...

Was this lot from Britain? I can see £sd, Scottish cigarette packets and a badge from a miniature railway in Kent. And UK Lions badges.

Lions stuff is fairly low ranking in the social order of fraternal organisations, so I suspect that there won't be any precious metals. There would be no universal standard for regalia, so there is a wide variety of similar stuff.

I bought it here in South Africa. But seems it was a worldwide collection. Probably somebody's deceased parent's lot or something.... I paid around the equivalent of $30 USD for the lot. hopefully it wasn't a complete waste of a buy. But it is stil interesting to own at the very least ;)

Snipsa, I hope you don't mind if I reminisce a bit about being a child a long time ago and each year or six months a Lion's Club member would come to our house selling brooms to raise money to aid the blind. My mother always bought a Lion's Club broom (because it was for a good cause and because she said they were very good brooms -- I remember they were heavy/sturdy brooms with long "straws" and a brightly colored wooden handle).

I found an interesting article on-line (see link below) with the history of the makers of the brooms and the selling of the brooms by the Lion's Club members. The Lion's Club still works with sight-impaired people all over the world. One of our local Lion's Clubs still gathers old eyeglasses (frames/lenses) to refurbish and give to people to aid in their vision.

Deifinitely don't mind yourturntoloveit! Thats the reason I enjoy these types of items and a forum on which to discuss it. As I'm still in my 20s I unfortunately didn't really have any sort of experiences with Lions club here in SA. It seems that although there are still clubs this side they are very quiet overall. Just knew about them through research that I did on another batch of medals and badeges (mostly militaria) that I bought a while back.

Can't wait to get these in the week. I'm especially interested in the Umtali items as I have a special place in my heart for old Rhodesia items.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I got this painting about a month ago or so. On the verso there's a sticker that says Joys Art Emporium. I did a little research and there was one in FL back in the day. This painting is singed Litch & Bailey. Also on the verso, it's hand written that this was sold to an individual at an art show back in the 70s. I'm still trying to find out who this artist is.

Is it signed Litch & Bailey or Litch E Baily? Very serene :)

I love it! Kind of odd to be signed as if 2 people were involved in it's creation, but that really does look like the modern version of an ampersand.

It's Litch & Bailey. Yes it is. Reminds me of when I was in Oklahoma.

Oddly enough (or not) I find this view far nicer than the one with the frame.
I kind of have a *hate* for that type of frame.

Without it, it is a lovely, calm, picture.

I am lost too and wondering if two people did this. I'll keep searching, hopefully something comes across.

They gave it a "looking out your cabin window" feel with the wood frame. I don't care to much for that kinda frame either but they pulled it off.

I just got done reading something online. That sticker on the back of the painting is from Joy Rubins Art Emporium from Hollywood,FL. I found a link that talks about an artist named Robert Owen that had art work there also. His art still sells to this day. By what I've read his paintings were only found in highly acclaimed galleries and art emporiums, Joy Rubins Art Emporium Hollywood, FL.

Robert Owen's paintings can be found among many of the international "jet set" community's distinguished art collections, and in private homes all over the nation. A partial list of his collectors include, Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Avalon, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Caeser, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Cunha, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Falk, Dr and Mrs. C.R. Lincoln, James Merick, Mettler Electronics Corp, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Van Dyke, Miss Dionne Warwick and James West.

One man shows and exhibits have been held in many galleries some include: Norman Wilks Gallery, Oklahoma City, Ok, ~ Pagliacci Gallery, Newport Beach, CA, ~ Ira Roberts Gallery, Beverly hills, CA, ~ Maidenlane Gallery, San Francisco, CA,~ Charles Pace Gallery, Houston, TX,~Galerie De Tours, Carmel, CA,~ Albert Charles Gallery, Gatlinburg, TN,~ Craft Gallery, La Mirada, CA,~ Joy Rubins Art Emporium, Hollywood, FL,~ Grafton Street Gallery, Costa Mesa CA,~ Seger Fine Art Gallery, Boca Raton, FL,~ MGM Grand Gallery, Las Vegas, NV, ~ O'Kelly's Gallery, Long Grove, IL,~ Houshang Gallery, Dallas TX, ~ Gallerie Hawaii, Honolulu, HI, ~ Galerie de Las Artists, Las Cruces, NM,~ and the Museum of Sciences & Industry, Los Angeles, CA, Just to name a few.

My point is, I find it rather nice to have a painting by someone that shared space with an artist like Mr. Owens. To me, it states that the artist of my painting was known, but by what name, I have no clue.

I'm getting a feeling of this being a pseudo name.
