Hello Everyone ! I have recently acquired, as a chance purchase, this very old blue Delft charger, measuring some 29cm in diameter and in pretty decent condition.

Are there any Delft experts out there who might be able to give their valued opinions as to the approximate age and origin of the plate ?

Any comments will be gratefully received !!

Lovely piece. I am not an expert but that looks to be at least 18th century to me. Can't get to my book of signatures tonight but someone may well be able to find that one for you.

It is lovely, but not a mark I recognize just like that. Maybe @say_it_slowly knows it, or can find it.:)

I thought Spanish or Portuguese, with that bird and creamy white. Could add Italian to the list.;)

At first glance, I thought Portuguese. But not a category I know anything about so will read with interest what those more knowledgable have to say.

Would make sense, it's very like stuff I saw in Lisbon museums.

I’ve done some searches and the closest I can find is this one. It sold as c1700 but the auctioneers didn’t identify it as anything other than Delft 0E87A526-A8A0-4800-BF90-52F6B89679D6.png

Sorry to be so late to the party. I have a similar shaped plate in blue and white shown in the last photo though mine isn't marked.

I did look in Chaffers book of marks as I thought it was the mostly likely of my books to have the mark. I didn't see it there. I also don't have any info on my plate handy but will look for it when I get a chance to see what I may have.

What I did find was a little info on the shape from the book "Delft Ceramics at the Philadelphia Museum of Art" .
