Appears to be a Tang-style horse. Not terribly old.

First 2 characters are Zhong Guo 中国 which means China and the last one is ma 马 which means horse. Sorry I can’t read the third one

Understood Siblye. No problem. So I am wondering what this is. When tapped it sounds like hollow metal. But there are chips that show a beige clay. Was this cast and then sculpted in clay over the top?

Some stoneware can have a metallic sound once fired. Have you tried putting a magnet on it anywhere? Would help rule out ferrous metal at least...

So he is not made of metal. When I search Terra cotta I am finding similar.
