Featured 1940's child's vintage dress, label says "Picture Mode Kay Lewis"

    I've never seen a child's vintage dress like this --almost "Carmen Miranda" style, so picked it up for fun at a sale. Guessing it would fit a 4-5 year old. Dress measures 22 inches long, and thinking 1940's.

    Just noticed a tag inside which reads: "Picture Mode Kay Lewis California".

    I googled the label thinking there must be others out there, but all I found was a tiny bit of info about Kay Lewis. She was a actress and costume designer.

    Do you think this would have been for a movie? A little more orange than red, color came out a bit dark on the photo:

    Retail label. You're right re date -- late '40s. Some ads floating around internet. Appears she also did mother & daughter dresses which may explain adult-like design.
