Does anyone know who the artist was for this?
Is it a poster? A print? A comic?
Any information would be appreciated - maybe a news artist? (I remember when this first happened & the uproar!) - I see Donazo; but nothing comes up.

Donato is (was?) a political cartoonist for the Toronto Sun, though that doesn't much look like his usual stuff. (Maybe a different Donato.)

That’s funny, before I saw the uniform, I thought it was Keith Hernandez. :hilarious:

This is from 1980, so 40 years ago. Maybe relatively early work.

Maybe took artistic liberties with the reporter?

I don't think it's meant to represent any specific reporter or player -- it's just a sort of commentary (meant to be amusing) on the then new (shocking!) and discomfiting (to some) presence of (rare) female members of the sporting press being allowed into teams' dressing rooms / locker rooms. As a Toronto artist, Donato presumably added the Blue Jays details just because Toronto.

I would find it hard to believe this wasn't directly inspired by this reporter, and her experience being in the Toronto locker room. Everything lines up...including the time-frame of the reporters groundbreaking experience and the artist's signed work.

EDIT - Andy is still doing cartoons on a contract basis for the Toronto Sun - maybe you can figure out a way to contact him about your print? Looks like he is a member of the "Toronto West Artists Collaborative" - maybe you could reach out through their contact form...

There's also a contact page specifically for him here:
