We have this antique teddy bear in the family which was apparently my grandmother's when she was little. She was born in 1934 so I assume must date from sometime in that decade. Would anyone be able to tell me more about the teddy and possibly how much it could be worth? I can't see any labels on it unfortunately... Its paws has been restored at some point in time too

I've attached photos to this post. The last two photos are brighter as I've used my phone's flash to show up some more details (hopefully!)

try Merrythought and Chiltren bears, am getting an English vibe from this, Also arew\ the eyes glass or plastic, is the stuffing soft or crunchy, are the joints lined with a disc, , just a few factors to determine age, cheers

Hi Nancy, thank you for your comment. I've attached three more photos below, hopefully giving more of an idea... I assume the bear must be English as we live in the UK! I'm 99% the eyes are glass as they have a cold touch.. the bear has a very crunchy feel to it. And if I've understood you correctly the joints are lined with a disc.. I've attached a photo which hopefully shows this?

By the way, it is always best to have your images full-size rather than thumbnails. You can go back to your posts, click "edit" and then select "full-size" for the images.

Strictly speaking it won't be antique until it's 100 years old :shame:

Just wanted to add to my post.... I've noticed that there's something loose within the teddy. When I hold/turn it I can feel something like a wooden block moving inside.. does anyone know what this could be? I wonder if it could be some sort of musical box?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@Lloyd, it might have been a now-nonfunctioning 'growler'....they do die after a while!!! http://mysteifflife.blogspot.com/ is a link that I have been to many times...she will tell you if your teddy IS or is NOT a Steiff at least, and maybe just what it IS!!! Go down the page a little on the left side and it says "How Can I Help You?" .....her email address is there....send her the well lit images and whatever you want to ask....she's usually pretty thorough!!!! Good Luck!!
