Featured How old is my birdie? Assuming Chinese glass...but when?

This little sparrow like fella is 4.5 inches from beak to tail, and stands 4 inches tall at the tail. Stands and balances perfectly on his talons. Im assuming this is from China, but I haven't been able to find any comparable. Other green glass animal figures yes, but not a bird similar. Mid 20th? Maybe older? Not super detailed but nice lines and well made. Can't determine a mold seam anywhere but I think at least the body was probably molded and details like the beak and talons hand done?

those two bumps on the forehead should be a clue as to species .....imo

Certainly appears to be a twin! I bought mine on Ebay..but pretty sure it' wasn't this one. No age or origin info was given on mine other than "China", I assume the seller didn't know much about it.

oh, I didn't think the one I posted was the one you bought, when the links are dead they are usually old I know they make 'new' items in jadeite, but yours look old to me, I'm wrong lots of times though

 

Yeah it's not the same one, at least that image was not part of the Ebay listing for the one I bought. That being said - it does look like a sister to mine.

 

I have a glass animal book around here somewhere, I'll look for it in the morning and see if you bird is in it
