Ok, these aren't antiques, but I thought it'd be interesting to revisit the past with a few pics.

My mom never threw away anything in her life as long as it was still working. I don't know how she kept her house so neat despite keeping everything along the way.

I'm sure there's more to be found in the items we boxed up, but here's a few so far.

First a couple of beauty products....

And would you believe the douching syringes that go with this sell for like $50 or $60? Oy.

Perfumes. I haven't had a chance to look at the perfumes too much, but that Chanel No. 5 has got to be at least 45 years old.

I always thought my mom was extremely thrifty, but this electric toothbrush machine / clock had to have been state of the art in the 60's. I can't believe she still had it around, and I can't believe it survived 4 children through probably 10 years of use.

Just realized that my mom worked for Sears at one time, so she may have gotten a very nice discount for this item.

Ahh, here's one I forgot. This was actually in my grandparents' house, in their spare bedroom. It always cracked me up because it was such stark contrast to their extremely plain, conservative decor.

I know! My mom passed away in February, and we hurriedly boxed up some stuff in my parents' house so me and my kids could move in with my dad to take care of him. My brother and sister-in-law don't have the same fascination as I do with these types of items, so they probably boxed up a lot of stuff without showing me first.

The good news it that it's all still here in boxes, so it will get to come back out one day.

Yes, that rechargeable toothbrush holder was so surprising to come across. I remembered it right away.

I think these were very rare back then as I haven't found too much on the model we have, although I haven't looked too hard yet.

It was called the Sears Optamatic, and the little instruction sheet with it has a little "1966" in the corner, so that may be the year.

And being a rechargeable beauty item in the late 60's would (I think) have been very avant garde for the time.

Your Mom must have had plenty of closet space to keep everything and keep a neat house, too. Great items, many of which I remember. Especially home perms - my father would retreat to the basement 'rec room' when we girls gave each other perms. The stink permeated the entire house.

She was very organized, and yes, she had quite a bit of room (though she would probably say otherwise). I grew up in middle class suburbs of Philadelphia so our house was a single split-level.

Now that everyone is mentioning it, I do remember the home perms my mom would give herself. Blech smell.

I just remembered that I came across an advertisement for the Toothbrush gadget from the 1967 St. Louis Dispatch. It says it sold for $19.88.
