Amber or Orange Jade or some other simulant.

    Sterling silver fob / pendant.

Hot needle penetrates the reverse, obviously I can`t take it out of the setting to see if it floats in salt water.

Any other tests ? what you think ?

    Probably reconstituted Amber in sterling.

I read the post after looking at pictures and responding.
    Duh on me:eek:

Rub vigorously on your blue jeans, then hold it to your face.
    Amber will be hot.

Another friction based test for amber is to rub on jeans and see if it attracts to a single ply piece of tissue.

Tried the rub test and it was just warm on my lips.
No single tissue to try it on.
I`ve polished the silver and it has come up amazingly bright.

She'd kick you somewhere.... It looks like sterling and resin from here. Pretty though, almost like sea anemonies.

Davey, how does it look under UV light?
It could be pressed amber of the kind widely used in the GDR. That was a mix of real Baltic amber and artificial resin.
Amber-resin mixes had been made for a long time, but never as convincingly as this, and GDR scientists were very proud of the result. No doubt they got a bonus and a holiday in a state resort on the Baltic coast.;)
It is often seen in post-1947 Fischland jewellery, like this ring:

It is still used in some parts of Northeastern Europe, yours could be a 1980s Polish piece.

It's reconstituted amber and the only definitive test is UV. You'll see a diffuse blue veil be it original or remade.

Can I rant now about hot needle tests?

Here`s two pics using a UV torch from the back.
    I don`t see much difference.
