Blue Flambe Octagon Bonsai Pot

    I don't see any age signs on the glaze so I am assuming a more recent piece? Possibly a Chinese import?
    The brown on the interior and the bottom looks like some kind of a paint. There are few pinholes on the glaze and I can see the same color underneath it. Don't know if that is the natural color of the clay or some kind of a slip used for better adhering of the glaze?

    Definitely modern - I've bought Bonsai in these. And yes, not brown paint, but slip.

    This could have been made in the Shiwan kilns, they have this kind of glaze...

    Yup, I agree. Late-20th C. Chinese Shiwan.

    Very sloppy for Shiwan ware. I wouldn't be surprised if it's from Vietnam and made to imitate Shiwan ware, badly.

    when I google bonsai pots I find quite a big variety of glazes and shapes. most of them come from China. Like here

    The most important is that we all agree that mine is modern. Even if made in Shiwan kiln it would not matter much.
