Featured Tall glass container with lid

I think I seen these before but not sure where, is it a pasta container ? The lid has a plastic ring around it, the container is 15" tall.

You could put long pasta in it, but most I've seen are round all the way down and not square at the bottom. I'd put those long "rod" pretzels in it, myself. It would a great for whatever you wanted to keep shielded from humidity.

 

Billy, that's a nice looking kitchen (or, heck, even bathroom) canister.

I keep just about every kind of dry food - from pasta to rice to baking stuff to dried beans & grains, to nuts - in glass jars. I have huge ones on the counter for flour and sugar. The rest are in the pantry, and they're all different sizes.

As Bakers has said, there are some kinds, like the ones with the plastic rings inside, that keep things dry and fresh (and, in certain climates where ants and roaches & the like are a problem, bug-free!)

I wouldn't limit describing the use of this one to any particular thing - I'd just call it a large, multi-purpose canister, and let the buyer decide how best to use it.

p.s. How are you feeling? I've been thinking about you and wishing I could drop off some homemade chicken soup to help you feel better!

 

A PANTRY! Growing up, all the houses around me had them. I'd love one today!

 

And me. We have no panty and our kitchen is tiny, it is clear to me that the people who built our house had no interest in cooking.
The house is pretty big for Dutch standards, but the kitchen.... When we moved in there wasn't even hot water in the kitchen. We hadn't noticed or expected that, but had it put in immediately of course.

My grandmother's old house had a pantry, but no kitchen counters. I'm not sure which is more useful. She did however have a second stove in her basement. I'm not sure of the stovetop, but the ovens were fully functional.

 

We lived in my grandmother's house in an upstairs apt. The pantry was quite large, but now that you mentioned it, we had no counter space either. A big old black stove provided heat in the Winter......the oven being a wonderful place to put our very cold feet after a playful romp in the snow.

 

Gas stove with a pilot light. Yeppers. Kitchens in the old days didn't really have counters I guess. An upscale house would have a scullery, but otherwise the prep area was a big table.

 

Just wondering if you can get your hand in it, and, if so, can you get it back out again? I would like it filled with pub mix, please. Address to follow.

Is that green glass or is it clear glass? Didn't Hocking make some provision canisters with a similar pattern? Maybe it is a newer repro or I am just way off on that guess.
