    Hi, everyone:

I have an interesting old advertisement for the Grand 'Ole Opry that I'm hoping somebody might be able to tell me more about. It's made of embossed paper stock, with no ink printed on it anywhere. The faces of the two singers can't be seen unless the light is angled just right; when it is, and it hits the cross-hatched texture in a certain way, their images jump out with photographic clarity. At the bottom of the page is the name of the maker, the Independent Electrotype Co. of Indianapolis. I've never seen anything like this before, and think it's really quite a cool effect. Have any of you seen similar ads?

    Nice!
I have a set of pressed cards like this for the Empire State Bullding but they are much older.
He passed in ‘77 she in ‘11.
    This could be 1970.

They started performing at the Grand Old Opry in 1957. I'd think your card dates to then. Here's another image which appears to be from same photo shoot.

Thanks! Yes, your photo and the one on the ad do appear to have been taken at the same time; Wilma’s wearing the same earrings and necklace.

I've had a couple of those ads. You would give them to the newspaper, and they would be inserted whole into the layout of a newspaper page.
