Wondering if anyone can help identify this location in Ledyard CT. Checked Google Earth but cannot figure it out. Thought I’d try it here before I officially give up

A very nice Cape Cod-ish farmhouse and barn. Given the 115 years between painting and now, it has probably been replaced by a development. :(

1906...out in the country side....unpaved road.....
if it's still there...I highly doubt it looks like that anymore....
    Good Luck !!!

Perhaps check APPLEWOOD FARM in Ledyard:

Applewood is 2-story in the colonial center-chimney style. If it's in the Historical Commission archive, I bet it's looked like that (assuming it's still around) for over 200 yrs.

Great ideas! Love that you all come out for this! THANKS for this. BTW, Google Earth shows the town looking pretty much the same in my book :)

"I live in an antique cape and have a watercolor painted by a guest in the 1950s which has passed from owner to owner over the centuries."

    New England
, did you possibly mean "painted by a guest in the 1850's"? ;)

Yes - sorry - it was painted in the 1850s by a young woman who was spending the summer at the home. It's a great historical reference and shows a different landscape than today. Back then, the farmers had burned or cut down all the forest surrounding their land to keep the wolves away. The forest has returned and there are no more wolves in the state.

NewEngland, you are so very lucky to live in such a house and (especially, in my opinion) to have that painting from the 1850s. ;)

Now we have coyotes and... politicians. The politicians are the bigger pests.
