Featured Mug with faces - signed / inscription

Wonder if anyone can make out what this says better than I can? I'm really only getting the number 4 - "Mary"(or maybe it's Maia?) and the "- V - " underneath. The faces are what drew me in enough to buy this. If anyone can help with the inscription or otherwise ID this - I'd be much obliged! Thanks again

if those siggys are by the same person......they changed ..a ..lot....over time...or one was signed when they where shitfaced drunk !!!

 

Apparently she's passed away - but the family still operates the studio making pieces based on her designs... so sig probably not from same person - but I think Johnny nailed it being from the same studio.
