Help identifying signature!!

I'm a little confused (though nothing unusual about that). In the first photo it appears to be signed in black or a dark color and is a long looking name. In the following photos the sig is red and short. Am I just seeing it wrong?

Do you think there is any chance it's by the illustrator Bart Jerner? Apparently in addition to plates he also did book covers and other things.
