Obviously I didn't know there was anyone who would like that look. Guess size matters, more than location! À chacun son goût.

Edit: To clarify, remark above was hopefully the knot at the end of the thread concerning the cameos of Urania & evelyb30's comment that the poor girl on the second one needs a better bra, estella's observation that she does not have one to start with, mine that it would have been better if she had, & KOT's response: But what do YOU know!!!

There's a Hanau silver look to it, although maybe insufficiently ornate.

Nice finds! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for those sewing birds.

Just for KOT, even though she has appeared before in the Funnies thread:

The file name is 'Indescribable'. I have no idea at all what it was meant to be, yet someone held on to it. Don't know which baffles me more.:mask::eek:

I’ve not spent any time in the Funnies thread for months now so hadn’t seen her...charms...there or anywhere.
    Suffice it to say...
    ...very uplifting post.

Folks I'd rather not meet! Very ambitious for an amateur attempt, but why not? There was a time when, in an effort to revive the art, shell cameo cutting was promoted as a suitable leisure activity for well-bred young men & even young women with a bit of artistic talent. It was advised that a bunch of grapes was a good subject to try carving first. Think this carver skipped that step.

Edit: Actually the face is not so bad, have seen many for sale that are much worse, so maybe an early attempt to attach a body to the pretty face. Whatever is next to her on her right is beyond me. Looks like a Dr. Seuss character of a furry walking fish that can stand up like a dog begging.

    Vargas?
    :)
I knew someone in San Diego who knew Vargas. He had left this guy a ton of artwork.

You're right, it's Vargas. I always thought it was Vargas, then got it into my head that I was wrong & it's Varga, when in fact...

What did the guy who was left the art work do with it?

I don’t know. Lost track of him when I moved away. :(
Lost even his name now. That was probably 25ish years ago.
I was hoping to snag a sailor themed piece at least. :(
