Industrial metal air thing

I can't believe I forgot what these are called, getting old sucks. Is it a water moister resevoir or what is it called again ? I have so many things going through my brain everyday, I should be a genius by now.
It is lightweight,almost feels like aluminum. Does anyone know what era this might have been made in ?

What era ? I still can't find one like this.

 

Many have been clear for quite awhile now with the advent and more usage of polycarbonate instead of glass. I'd guess this was pre-80s since I was using clear ones late 70s.
Little help to not be able to see what was in it.
