I found this little guy at an antiques mall. It looks like a practice bomb but I’m not sure. It’s non magnetic. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
It looks like a wonderful piece of "trench art".

I don't believe that it is Trench Art. The metal looks like Stainless Steel. Decor Item maybe?

 I smell a rat here.
It could be both aluminum and stainless though some aluminum can polish up like the nose but why just that?
Those metals are not happy together for long term.

The texture looks like aluminum to me for all of it.
    What does this weigh?

And WHAT are those weird tabs between the body and the fins.
And WHY are the fins so thick? That is odd.

    Don't need it ;)

You can tell by how the threads are cut.

    Can I? ;)

Look under the nose cone. That roughened surface is what aluminum does under heat. :)

    Hi,
I used "trench Art" in parenthesis to say the style of real trench art from the World Wars It is stil called trench art even though it is later.

It weighs 1lb 6oz. The little tabs are brass. It was sold with the label “rocket” but i doubt it. The solid nose cone makes me think it’s to keep it facing down while falling. But I’m by no means an expert. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to machine the parts for a decor item. But then again people are full of surprises

I’ve added some pics of the inside chambers 2DFB94E3-BAC7-4ADF-A487-F542BA565D55.jpeg EDBE8202-30C7-40B2-B72A-64FFAF929DD2.jpeg

I can't figure out those little tabs. And none of the parts are magnetic......hmmm.....
My uncle could well have made something like that, just to see if he could do it. Lots of good practice, machining the threads, polishing. He was a shop teacher at Benson Tech in Portland OR; but I bet there are craftspeople who might make something like this, just for the heck of it.....because I can't imagine a practical use; it doesn't seem like an actual practice bomb to me, but maybe our militaria experts will have some thoughts.

At that size and weight I'm staying with aluminum. :)

I'd say it isn't even though it's heavy duty.

It doesn’t resemble any practice bomb I’ve seen either. They are usually 1 piece and shroud. The unscrewing nose is odd. I think it’s the same metal but someone polished the nose. The inside threads are shiney on the main section. Weather it’s aluminum or stainless I’m not sure? Also I can’t budge/unscrew the tail section where the brass tabs are for the life of me.
