    urn1_Easy-Resize.com.jpg stone2_Easy-Resize.com.jpg stone5_Easy-Resize.com.jpg Hi everyone,
I was referred to this forum by someone who said they had had good success finding answers here.

Attached are photos of what is likely a double urn. It was likely purchased in Mongolia in the 60s or 70s; no idea when it was originally created. The third photo is a close-up of what the urn looks like inside, if that helps to identify what it's made out of.

A mishap with my cat led to it breaking into several pieces. I've been painstakingly gluing it back together, but of course it will never be what it once was.

My questions: What is it made out of? What was it worth, pre-breakage? What might it be worth now? When, approximately, was it created? I have zero intentions of selling it; in fact, it had not been looked at, dusted or in any way enjoyed in at least 20 years or more.

    Thank you for any insights.

A lot of people here won't click on links - sorry.

Have you tried emailing the photos to yourself as medium size? They must be under 1MB in size for this site.

Thank you, I found a site that resized them for me and they are all included in the post rather than linked. Thanks again!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Welcome to Antiquers, @antiquesuptotheroof -- I'm sorry to hear that your cat managed to break this. It looks very interesting. I'm not knowledgeable about it, though. Was wondering if you could possibly arrange the pieces in a photo the way that it would have looked before breaking? Even if they are not glued in yet. This might help somebody if they are familiar with the form or the designs on it.

I'll tag @Any Jewelry , who may possibly be able to give insight on the style, whether it is Mongolian or not.

Lovely vase, @antiquesuptotheroof Pity about the damage.
It is not Mongolian, but Chinese, like the one @say_it_slowly posted. And it is also serpentine. It was probably new when it was bought, and could be a replica of a historic piece.

Now, get your cat some toys, and maybe some cat shelves so it won't have to throw items of value over.:playful::cat:

Thank you for the reply and information! Can I please ask what in the photos identifies it as serpentine and not true jade? I'm just so paranoid that it's jade and was worth quite a lot before my cat decided to thrash about and break it! I did Google serpentine vs. jade, but as I'm not an expert whatsoever in this area, I cannot for the life of me tell the difference!
