Hi I went to an estate sale a while back and I have a few pieces that I am having trouble identifying and this is one of them. I really have so much to learn in this area and appreciate any help anyone is willing to lend. Calling it redware is a guess and hopefully, I at least have that right. I've never seen anything decorated quite like this and I don't know what to even call the style of decoration. They only history I know is that the wife was Japanese and met her soldier husband during one of the wars and he brought her back here. The items in the house seemed to be from the 60's and before. Any help is very much appreciated. approx 7" wide x 4" tall TYIA

This looks Japanese in painting style. Doesn't look like a mass produced item though.

    For future reference.
It is ok to post more than one like item in a thread. (3-5 pottery items in one question. 3-5 glass items in one question.)

Your pics are good.....& you can put up...up to 10 pics on any one post...
but one item with several pics on one post...is OK too.
Sometimes it helps to keep track of what info you're going to get.

There's actually no limit to the amount of items you can put in a post.
However when it gets past 5 it gets confusing.
If you do put a lot in, it helps to number the items for easier reference.

The system limits you to 10 in each post...but you can add 10 more in a comment, and 10 more in the next comment...etc...

The system limits you to ten pictures? Didn't know that.
But theoretically you could have 10 items in each picture with ten pictures making for 100 items.
Without numbering it would be a mess to answer.

    Thanks aaron.

Looks like a studio piece to me. The scallops look uneven. Lovely item, though. The artist did have some talent. I agree with you on the Japanese origin and the time frame, although I doubt there is any way we can ever be sure.
