    Hi,
I'm not sure if I posted this before, I can't find the post if I did nor do I have any information with it - my apologies if I did.
The figure I think is soapstone, (2 1/2"L) feels waxy, abalone barrel beads (1/2"L) and small green beads, maybe stone? The larger green beads feel like glass, they all have pits on them. This is on fishline or something similar, a knot joined together and it slips over your head to wear.
The smaller stones are translucent and have lots of variations of colours and inclusions, so maybe glass rather than stone?
Would this be a craft/home made necklace? Can you buy the figures for craft work or would this have come off something else?
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

The green beads that make up most of it look like green aventurine, although could also be dyed. Are the large spherical beads black or purple? Think it's a bit of a hodgepodge, strung on monofilament, which makes me think home craftsperson. The figure might have been sold in a bead store, might have been scrounged from something else.

Thank-you Bronwen:) the large beads are green, here is a better photo. I thought glass but having a better look probably not. I'll look up green aventurine and see what I can find.

Hmmm. In the color range of indicolite tourmaline, but seems unlikely. Any Jewelry & kyratango are sure to have good ideas.

from what I saw they do look like green aventurine. I'm not sure how to tell if they are dyed though - some that say they are dyed look the same and some look streaky, while others that don't say or indicate they are dyed look the same:confused:

The variety of shades & inclusions is encouraging for natural. It is not such an expensive stone that one would have to be suspicious for that reason. On the large beads, what do they look like around the edge of the hole? Drilling tends to leave a rough lip; molding makes for smoother.

I think the figure is serpentine. The beads look dyed from here, but who knows.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Question????? So, is Serpentine a man-made stone?

Nope. Serpentine is serpentine. It is however often dyed or otherwise manipulated and comes in several colors. That olive oil color is a classic.

Yep, certainly aventurine, with these "flecks" in it:)
and agree with evelyb for serpentine, a natural soft stone used to look like celadon jade (and very often called that by some sellers:banghead:)
