I don't have pictures yet but I'm excited to have found a 3 piece cocktail shaker in the "Winchester 73" pattern by Heisey yesterday. There's one up on eBay that's been there for almost 2 years with an asking price of about $3,400.00 (!). I could not find any others with asking prices or past auction results. I did find a yellow cocktail shaker with a different shape and pattern that sold for $1,350.00 (again !) in 2015 but nothing else more recent.

Does anyone here know anything more about this pattern and if it actually is as rare as my searches seem to make it out to be?

I'd appreciate any info you have!

Heisey cocktail shakers and decanters are usually part of either an established pattern or a more limited barware line. The specific etch can also be important. There are people that just collect Heisey cocktail shakers but they are few and far between. The shaker that sold for $1350 most likely made that price because of the color and pattern. If you can give me a link to that shaker I might be able to tell you more. The yellow color in Heisey is called Sahara.

In general, Heisey sells much better in colors than in crystal. The $3400 seller is dreaming. It does have some cross-over appeal to collectors of Western barware and Wincester is hard to find. Hard to find doesn't always mean valuable, though. It's hard to image it would sell for more than a few hundred dollars. You start getting to four figures (let alone $3400) and even devoted collectors figure they can live without it.

Winchester '73 etching was made to 'go with' the movie of the same name, 1950, starring Shelley Winters and Jimmy Stewart. Vernon Kilns also made a line to go with the movie theme. Heisey's wares were out of production by 1952. As stated above rarity and value often are not tied together. Demand drives the price.

Thanks for the GREAT info! The Sahara shaker I found was in PriceMiner. If you have an account, you can find it. But, I can copy and paste a portion of the sale info....

Wow, I'm surprised the thumbnail picture showed up. Usually, I can't get that part to paste.

I think I will probably list it on eBay starting at $9.99 or no more than $99.99. Then we'll have a more realistic idea of the value at the end, huh?

    Thanks again!

The pressed Ipswich shaker is not in the same category as the blown shakers, also the line was made for a very short period in that color.

Savvy, be sure to use all the Key Words, Heisey, Cocktail Shaker, Winchester '73 to attract the best buyers. You should do well with it. Just remember that auctions are not retail sales where you get the top dollar.

Thank you! I still haven't photographed it yet (I'm so far behind!), but when I do and do get it listed I've decided to just list it at $9.99 with a 10-day auction with all the keywords I can fit in there and see what happens. Would it be against the rules to post it here so you can watch it if you like?

Okay, I have the 10-day auction scheduled on eBay starting at $9.99 at 4:00 PM Pacific time. I'm very nervous about the low starting price, but, with your help, I'm sure I've included most if not all the needed information and keywords. Crossing my fingers! I won't post a link since I'm not sure if that is kosher here. My username is "fancyendeavours" if you care to watch the sale and see how it does. Hopefully, it will do well! :)

Since this forum is in no way associated with ebay you could post the link without any issues.

Some folks won't click on links, but that is their choice.

BTW your pink atomizer is definitely not DeVilbiss. It is a recent (last 10 - 20 years) bottle most likely out of China.

I wish you the best of luck with your auction!!!!

Thanks all! Thanks, Peggy! I'll go revise that one. I'll post the Heisey link after it posts then. But, it sounds like y'all will find it! :)

Savvy, I didn't see a picture of you shaker before, it's the Country Club line shaker. not the Cobel shaker (straight cylinder) that is most common. I don't know if you can add that to your offer or not. Nor do I know if it would make a difference.
