Featured Old asian jewelry box

    Got this out of my grandmothers attic twenty some years ago. Think it's Japanese The figures are carved stone of some sort. Has some damage. The hinge has obviously broken as well as the lock. Has a crack in bottom. I received it in this condition.
    Wondering whether it's worth fixing. Not too sure how I would do that or where to get it done and the price of course. Just sits on a closet shelf. Any idea's on the age? All comments welcome.

    Found a similar one which I gave to my daughter a few years ago ...I think this is probably mid 20th century Hong Kong.

    Agree with aaron. Chinese, probably mid 20th century.

    That little brass thing in the drawer is the bottom half of a Chinese padlock.

    If the rest of the lock is missing, you can order a replacement Chinese lock online. I did for some of my Chinese jewellery boxes.

    bought one(identical but without the figurative illustrations) in the eighties with my grandma(she paid for it, was a present for my 12th birthday) in a very large chinese store in Amsterdam, loved that thing but it got lost in a disaster unfortunately.
