Featured Need Opinion's Please

Okay so bought this about 20 years ago. My husband dug it out of the barn an painted it white it used to be a really dark green. It is solid wood an it stands 53 in tall.I have tried searching for something similar an can't find anything even similar to it. What do guys think Deco, Retro ? An what on earth would be it's purpose? To me it looks like something out of an old theater used like a marque. Please help.

Definitely Deco.

 

Great thing ..... whatever it is. Would think commercial in origin. Could see it as a marquee surround. Maybe for around a pay telephone? Any sign there was ever a light in the top? Maybe a surround for a niche to display sculpture?

No but there are some screw holes around the back my husband wants to put a mirror on the back of it.

I don't know what your's is but it's very cool! I did find the photo below of a theater interior with a frame for posters.

It occurs to me that often when buildings are being torn down, local folks will often salvage pieces and stash them away in barns etc. I wonder if this came from an old local building, theater, diner etc. Just a thought.

How can ya price something you don't know where it came from, how old it is, what it was meant to be, or if there are any more like it in the world.....except to price it as you see fit !!

 

I see it as a shrine for a Madonna statue. Do you have a Catholic church built in 1930 around there?

Am I really the only one who keeps seeing a big bottle of Champagne in there?

 

Could a fire extinguisher from the appropriate date fit nicely into it?
It looks like housing for something like that in order to make it fit into a deco building.

 

I'm seeing a spot to put a daily specials menu board at a restaurant.
