I found this antique? bugle/cornet at a local estate sale today & even with the keys sticking and needing to be greased - for $40 it would make a great wall hanger if it turned out to have more problems.
But, when I got it home and tried to research it, I couldn't find ANY musical instrument by J. Herzet!
And googling Moresnet Chapelle shows it is a town in Belgium - nothing about musical instruments.
1st - is this a bugle or cornet, or something else?
    Is/Was J. Herzet a musical instrument company?
Is it a person's name? (last owner?)
Where else should I look to find a name or who made this horn?!
Is this a real horn or just a toy/model?

Not a bugle, they don`t have valves.

Looks like a flugel horn. Not a toy. Just a bit of advice, I bought a trumpet a couple of weeks ago, tried to play it, it wouldn’t make a noise so I made the mistake of unscrewing one of the valves, now I can’t get it to go back together.

From the imprinted information - "Fournisseur" means "provider" in French. The word below means Conservatories, which are usually schools, so perhaps your J. Herzet only sold instruments to schools, thus none going into the general population of musicians?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

If you Google Flugel Horn, it looks like @Houseful is on to it!! But no idea why it would be 'molded' or split/halved together on the back section......just got through 'Googling ooooogles of Flugels' and didn't see a one like it...........:rolleyes:

Moresnet Chapelle is now (!)a town in Belgium.
But that part only became Belgian after WWI, it was German before that.
But judging by the inscriptions (being in French), that instrument must have been build after the annexation.

And indeed not much to be found about that maker's mark...:(

This is a discussion from a trumpet discussion board. Apparently the star model you have is some form of one they discuss here. Maybe you could ask this forum about your horn.
Actually inside their discussion, there is a link to a catalog. (In French) I don't think they ever found documentation of your version, but have seen it.
