I found this black and gold fountain pen with a leather case today. When I look at the tip, I saw the Waterman logo with Waterman Paris underneath. I could also see Servier (a pharmaceutical company headquartered in France) logo on the top. I realized that this was a promotional pen, but when I looked on their web site it doesn't match the current model of promotional pens. The case appears to be a very good quality and has a "N" stamped on it. I know nothing about good quality pens. Can someone help me with a idea about the date when this was made.

Servier has evolved its logo since your pen was produced. Here's new (yours) and here's old. At this 2016 conference, the old logo was in use so assume the change took place fairly recently and your pen is fairly new. It might even have been produced when the new logo was introduced.

Excellent. Never thought of using that direction. Amazing that someone would dispose of an expensive pen so quickly.

Actually, I think you got it reversed. The fat smaller sun is the old logo. The new logo has a point at the top of the sun

You are correct. Yours is the old logo. (The sun went from 9 to 10 rays.) Apologies for the confusion. As a promotional pen, these would have been bought in the hundreds, if not thousands. They might have been distributed at a conference or used by the company's detail force. The cost per unit wouldn't have been excessive. Think the leather case with N monogram not original to pen.

The case is original. Maybe Monogramed for the giftee.

This is from their current waterman website.

I'm not seeing this set offered by any of the promotional companies, so I can't assess the price point. This is the gold version or the elite. I'm seeing prices for the pen alone with your laser engraved logo at $149. I'm thinking maybe a retirement gift instead.

The wholesale price with be half or less. But, yes. Not your average gimmie.

That red isn't a WATERMAN brand color. Think pen + pouch is a marriage.
