  1. Caught my eye so I grabbed it. Has markings of Jeniers/Markoff? is that what the name carvings say? Anyone know if they mean anything. Do you thin someone made this? Sorry for my sideways pics. I upload them rightside up trust me haha.

If you google Teniers, I think you will find the artwork of the artist the scene may be from. I guess Markoff would be the maker of the metalwork.

I think there are 2 generations of this work. Some state “younger”.
Maybe your metalworker is also from Antwerp if he used this scene.

Too complicate matters even more, there are 4 generations of Teniers painters, all named David (of course:rolleyes:).
    David Teniers I 1582-1649
    David Teniers II 1610-1690
    David Teniers III 1638-1685
    David Teniers IV 1672-1731
    Take your pick.:)
I can't find your particular inn scene either, but my guess is it was painted by Teniers II.

  9. Good to know! Im not really a fan of Teniers painting, obviously they are skilled and excellent in that aspect but Im not feelin the aesthetic. ANYWAY, The box itself doesnt appear to be incredibly old, the wood doesnt have that certain scent that only comes with time and history. Any guesses on age of the box itself?
