Featured Rosenthal Hand Painted Apple Plate Mark

Looking for a time frame on this mark.

I dunno. The label is a post war one.

 

Owned is there something about the label that clues you in? That site does have a disclaimer that this is the best info they have but no guarantee.

(I thought the pattern looked 1980's myself but I've got nothing to base that on.)

 

Hi kraftblue - I checked porcelainmarkandmore. I don't think Chris has compiled the marks for the Selb factory but I was able to get kind of close with the Marktredwitz factory. I doesn't answer the mystery but perhaps the similar style of the marks here can help. I've seen a lot of Rosenthal plates in my time but yours has got to be my all time favorite.

Here is some info from the German Rosenthal site. They give a date range based on the mark. I think they show yours as 1934-1956. The crown doesn't have the little comma mark but Rosenthal has the "e" looking loop at the end. The other site with the 1938 info at least falls in this range.

Basically, I've a LOT of Rosenthal - we had an au pair whose mum worked there, and she'd send us it. Plus, the whole printing style and process on that label is post war. (Pa was a printer, go figure.)

 

Nothing as good as hands on, first hand knowledge! The bits I've got are nothing like this.

 

Botany is not my best subject, but can we argue about whether those are really apples?

 

What are you thinking? Not plums I don't think and probably not cherries with the end on them.

Crabapples?

 

Don't know; just stirring up trouble.

 

I forgot that. They're crab apples.

 

I guess it's good trouble Crab apples do make sense when you compare the leaf size to the fruit.
