Help ID and questions about scrapping

I've seen that, the cement, wax... they come up with all sorts of things to make a piece feel like you were getting more silver weight.

 

Just as a little bit of info for those who care here are a couple of photos of some past projects where I stripped out some silver from weighted items. The Pitch which is a pine resin was used in the older type weighted items and the cement type stuff will be on the more modern stuff. The picture with the two metal pieces sticking out the top come from a pair of candle sticks and weighs 258.2 grams with the original weight of the two pieces being 293.4 grams with a total .925 silver weight of 35.2 grams. I've also added a picture of what silver looks like when tested with 18k acid. The more white stuff the higher the silver content.

 

That looks to be as if it would have been more stable. A lot of times the cement must crumble inside and you get loose metal that gets dings.
