Help Identifying Chair

Hello all and thanks for allowing me to join. I wondered if anyone could identify this chair style and age - we have a picture of my partner's grandfather sitting on it which we think is from the early 1900's. It's in Australia but no idea if it was made here or imported. Many thanks, Leslie

 

Depends on where you are from...Savonarola or Dante chair (Italy) or Luther chair (Germany). A more common name is a scissor chair. Hard to give accurate description with just one photograph.

 

Perhaps when you do more pictures you could remove the plastic bag.

It is a very old model chair, that is still being made, so we need more pictures to narrow the period down, also of the construction please.

Did you want the plastic bag dated as well? It looks fairly recent.

Dagobert chair in the Low Countries (after a Frankish throne). I believe the French use the same term.
Curulic chair would be another term.

 

Thanks so much. We're in Australia but not sure where it was made. The chair is in storage at the moment but when we get it out I'll post more photos (without the plastic bag!).
